Amazing Job Opportunity For Person With Blogging Experience

Last week I was suffering seriously from the January blues. On Friday afternoon I had prepared a post in my head where I was going to rant about how there had been no phone calls, text messages or e-mails since New Years Eve and that I could have been lying dead at home half-eaten by Alsatians (yes, I'm quoting Bridget Jones) and nobody would have noticed. Luckily, the same afternoon I had a text from Kristina inviting me to her birthday drinks the following evening. And then another friend woke up from her slumber... and another. All of a sudden life seemed pretty good again.

Today I've been taking advantage of one of the cheap restaurant deals that are on offer. I went to Yo Sushi and got a 40% discount on the food. After that I went to see Slumdog Millionaire. Have you seen it yet? It is the best movie I've seen this year :-). Jokingly aside, it is a must see!

Slumdog Millionaire is a rags-to-riches saga set in Mumbai. The story centres on Jamal, a boy from the slums who has somehow become a big winner on India's version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? As he gets close to the final question and a huge payoff, Jamal is grabbed and taken to a police station, where he is accused of cheating on the show. No one can believe that this uneducated street kid could possibly know the answers to questions about gods, poets, guns and great literature. But Jamal does know the answers, and mostly through terrible life experience. To prove his innocence, Jamal has to tell his life story. And as soon as Slumdog Millionaire moves back in time to Jamal's childhood, the film goes from ordinary to extraordinary. Despite the poverty and hardship in the slums of Mumbai, the movie is suddenly vibrant with colour and music and all the energy of childhood itself.

If you don't win the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire or the Lotto there's a life-changing (well, for six months anyway) job opportunity on the market. How would you like to live and work here?

The job is to work as an island caretaker on Hamilton Island in the Great Barrier Reef. The successful applicant gets to explore 900 islands and give weekly reports via blogs, a photo diary and video updates. I just qualified for the role right there!!! He/She will get to live in a three-bedroom villa with pool rent free. The salary for this six-month hardship is £73,500. To read the full article, click here.

Will they allow three kids, a husband and a small dog? Ok, and maybe about twenty clients. We could ALL use the beauty and relaxation.

Just saw "Slumdog" this afternoon. I was in a TOTAL funk this morning and my sweet mom insisted (insisted!!) that we go see the movie.

LOVED it! Gave me a total change of perspective and I can't say enough positive things about it. Definitely some intense scenes (the 'blinding' scene was particularly disturing and tough to watch) but really a wonderful film about hope, the will to survive, thrive, and the strength of the human spirit.

Loved it, loved it, loved it!!
